Screenplays
Frank Borne has written three screenplays: Santa on the Jury, No Words, and Rebellion in Radcliff County (co-written with Steven Scaffidi).
Santa on the Jury
Elle Hooper, a beleaguered coffee shop worker, is a mess, and she can't tell her boss, Jacob, why. Edison Fayer, a gruff jury manager, is facing a life crisis with his wife, Ruth, and he also has difficulty sharing his pain with his co-workers. Kitty Driscoll is wrongly accused of theft, and the only alibi is her client's dog as she faces a zealous prosecutor. Christopher Snowe, a patient, wise gentleman, enters the lives of all three as he participates in jury duty with his fellow citizens. Three vignettes are woven together, and Christopher, the embodiment of Santa Claus, with whom he bears a striking resemblance, eases their pain and leaves them wondering who he is and what is his vocation.

No Words
With the exception of Grace Hart, students of Lexington Academy perform tunes at a fall concert. When she's suspended, her divorced parents, Adam and Emma, squabble over the cause of her mutism. The Harts have attempted to put their divorce behind them, each with younger lovers, Emma with hunky Owen, Adam with law school student Dennis. However, Emma’s depression over the divorce persists, while Adam, committed to Dennis, has difficulty expressing affection for him in public.
Logan, the Harts’ son, is unsure what to do with his life, although he has applied to the police academy. Although he accepts his father’s new relationship, many of Logan’s friends do not, causing him to resent his father.
The Harts bring Grace to a psychologist who closes in on the cause of her mutism, although she provides the therapist with no clue for her demeanor.
Adam’s parents, Frances and Nolan, arrive for the holiday, bringing Adam more drama and heartache. Nolan disapproves of Adam’s divorce and isn’t shy about his feelings.
When Grace gets in bed with Logan for comfort, Frances stumbles into the bedroom and is appalled, then barges in on Adam and Dennis in a private moment, causing an uncomfortable situation for all in the house.
As he spouts insensitive and inappropriate statements at breakfast, Nolan chides Adam over Grace’s mutism and the events of the previous night. Adam retreats to the living room where he has a one-sided conversation with Grace about Nolan’s verbally abusive nature, while Dennis confronts Nolan. Dennis implores him to maintain a relationship with his son because he does not have a relationship with his father. Dennis tells Nolan that his first love committed suicide when bullied after they came out. When Adam stands up to his father over his treatment of him, they reconcile.
On Thanksgiving Day, Emma and Adam make amends and the family seems to be whole again. However, police arrive to arrest Owen, who is wanted for multiple counts of indecent behavior with juveniles. Grace says her first words in front of her family when she confirms Owen’s guilt. Grace later confesses to Adam that she was mute because Owen threatened her and because she felt that her father failed to protect her in her time of need.
One year later, Adam and Dennis prepare to marry. Adam has summoned Dennis’ father, Robert, to try to reunite the men. However, Dennis rejects him, still unable to forgive his father for bullying his first love and encouraging him to commit suicide. Dennis dismisses his father, denying him attendance at the wedding.

Rebellion in Radcliff County
After more than 150 years, scars from the Civil War still have not healed in Radcliff County, where monuments to the region’s ugly past generate new resentment. Determined to remove the Jim Crow era icons of the Confederacy, Justice for Generations, an organization comprised of young activists, recruits college students to its cause to advance its beliefs with peaceful demonstrations.
Unfortunately, some in the group resort to vandalism and clash with The Heroic Hawthorns, a group of radical white supremacists led by “Boone” Radcliff, a zealous county official who fights to preserve his family’s place in history while advancing himself for election as sheriff.
County clerk of court “Coop” Benton, a good-old-boy admired by the community’s preservationists for his care for public records, and a black college history professor, Dr. Malinda Keyes, who tries to educate her students despite their hardened opinions on race relations, find themselves pulled to the extremes of the debate as they struggle to temper extremists’ positions.
Despite their differing backgrounds, they quickly discover they have much in common, including mutual respect and physical attraction. The duo’s association alarms the community’s racially sensitive leaders and the activists whose patience is waning for any democratic process to remove a controversial monument honoring a former sheriff and ruthless slave master.
Momentum for the anti-monument agenda builds until “Ike” Lancaster, a direct descendant of a slave and the powerful figure whose legacy is the center of a racial dispute, reveals the truth behind a small and mysterious monument he protects on a cemetery reserved for Radcliff Plantation slaves. The fact that this African-American patriarch can support the existence of any Confederate monument is not only appalling but a mystery to everyone.
When the white supremacist Hawthorns realize that their beloved Confederate monument could actually come down, they take matters into their own hands to protect their heritage against the activists at all costs, forcing Coop and Malinda to stand up for what’s right even if it means risking everything.
